New– Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Treatment
If you suffer from chronic plantar fasciitis, but are hesitant about having surgery, then ESWT may be an option for you to consider. Most patients are able to return to work within 24 hours of having ESWT performed.
Shockwave therapy is best known for its use in the treatment of kidney stones, referred to as Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL). Research has shown that shockwave therapy applied appropriately is also beneficial for the treatment of several orthopedic and podiatric conditions. This procedure is called Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). This non-invasive procedure is performed in our office. Dr Cooper has seen many successful outcomes with Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy and even though this procedure is not covered by most health insurance plans, it may still be a cost effective treatment for you. You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy.
In October 2000, the FDA granted clearance of ESWT for the treatment of plantar fasciitis (chronic heel pain syndrome). Dr. Cooper is well-trained and qualified to perform ESWT as a treatment option for chronic plantar fasciitis.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
If you’ve been diagnosed or feel you may suffer from a tendon tear, chronic tendinitis or a ligament injury in your foot or ankle, you may benefit from a non-invasive treatment known as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection). Many professional athletes have been successfully treated with PRP. Dr Cooper performs this procedure in her office with ultrasound guidance to ensure precise placement of the PRP at the injured site. Dr Cooper has seen many successful outcomes with Platelet-Rich Plasma and even though this procedure is not covered by most health insurance plans, it may still be a cost effective treatment for you.
